Wyatt’s Story
Wyatt Banks went to sleep a happy, healthy 7-month-old. By morning, he could not move and struggled to breathe. After being admitted to the emergency room of his local hospital, Wyatt was transferred to Prisma Health Children’s Hospital–Upstate. He was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, which left him paralyzed from the neck down. Since that day, Wyatt, now 6, has regained movement in his arms and hands and breathes more easily. A happy, energetic child, Wyatt enjoys adaptive sports, including wheelchair basketball. He is still a regular visitor to Children’s Hospital, but he has come a long way.
