Improving Access to Behavioral Health Care Together
The need for expanded and innovative behavioral health care has never been greater for children and adolescents in the Upstate. According to Mental Health America, nearly 26% of adults in the Upstate and 15% of South Carolina youth were at high risk for depression in 2024. By expanding behavioral health services across the Upstate, we’re not only addressing the need for increased access for patients and their families – we’re prioritizing an area of health care that’s been underserved, undervalued, and underfunded.

The new Prisma Behavioral Health Hosptial

This approximately 135,000 square foot facility is projected to open in early 2027. It will nearly double our current inpatient capacity and will include advanced, specialized units for adults, children, and adolescents.
