Strengthening Communities
Launching of OneDay Campaign: Uniting the community for mental health and wellness.
In late 2024, the Prisma Health-Upstate Foundation launched theOneDay campaign, a transformative initiative to address critical health needs in our community. This year, proceeds will support the construction of a transformative 112-bed behavioral health hospital in Pickens County, expanding access to essential care and improving lives across the Upstate.
OneDay inspires action, turning “one day” aspirations into “won day” achievements by connecting our community to life-changing health services through philanthropic support. Together, we’re turning aspirations into achievements, ensuring that a caring community has the resources needed to support, succeed and surpass every step toward a healthier, happier life.

Inspiring Courage
In 2024, the Inspire Courage Pediatric Hematology and Oncology campaign continued to make transformative strides. Hogs for the Cause, a New Orleans-based nonprofit that unites the barbecue community to support families battling pediatric cancer, jumpstarted the campaign with a $1 million commitment in 2023.
Their extraordinary contribution inspired the naming of the Hogs for the Cause Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Unit at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital–Upstate. This gift set the tone for the campaign’s success and created a foundation for hope and healing for children and their families.
In 2024, Cole’s Victory Lap, a Greenville nonprofit founded in memory of Cole Henderson, added a $250,000 commitment to the campaign, raised in part through J.L. Mann High School’s Spirit Week.
Construction on the Hogs for the Cause Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Unit began in May 2024 with a special “Make Dust Day” celebration attended by donors, hospital leaders, and community members. This advanced facility, set to open in 2026, will provide state-of-the-art, child-focused cancer care, offering new hope to families across the Upstate.
The combined efforts of Hogs for the Cause, Cole’s Victory Lap, and the community reflect the spirit of philanthropy that drives this campaign and ensures a brighter future for children battling cancer and blood disorders.
Expanding Accessibility to All
The Roger C. Peace Adaptive Sports & Wellness Center officially opened in August 2024 at Unity Park, marking a new chapter in community health and wellness. The new facility serves as an expansion of physical therapy and adaptive sports services. The 9,000-square-foot space includes an educational area, offers adaptive sports and yoga, and serves as a satellite location for the Center for Cancer Prevention and Wellness.
Funding for the $2 million project was supported by a $125,000 grant from the Symmes Foundation, a $600,000 grant from NOTUS Sports and Greenville Health Authority (GHA), and contributions from businesses and community donors.
Roger C. Peace Adaptive Sports & Wellness Center provides new opportunities for health and wellness for individuals of all abilities. Its impact reflects the strength of community collaboration and the commitment to expanding access to inclusive wellness services in the Upstate.
Powering Cancer Care
In 2024, two long-time community fundraising events made a significant impact on cancer care in the Upstate. The 18th Annual Prisma Health Dragon Boat Upstate Festival, held at Portman Marina, brought together 22 teams of paddlers, donors, volunteers, and sponsors, raising over $300,000 to support cancer research and patient programs.

Delivering Hope with My Special Aflac Ducks
In May 2024, Clemson University Head Football CoachDabo Swinney, Aflac U.S. President Virgil Miller, and Prisma Health leadership visited Prisma Health Children’sHospital–Upstate to deliver My Special Aflac Ducks to pediatric patients. These innovative robotic companions are designed to bring comfort, companionship, and emotional support to children facing cancer and sickle cell disease.
The ducks are equipped with interactive features such as a soothing heartbeat, a calming sound mode, and a customizable play mode, helping children navigate their medical journeys with less fear and more joy. Each child also received accessories for the ducks, allowing them to express their feelings and mirror their own medical experiences.
This heartwarming event reached dozens of children undergoing treatment, providing them with a sense of companionship and understanding during a challenging time. In addition to delivering smiles, the event raised $25,000 to support the hospital’s child life programs, enhancing the holistic care and emotional support offered to patients and families.
Team Member Giving Campaign Inspires Action
In 2024, Prisma Health team members demonstrated their commitment to making a difference through the annual Team Member Giving Campaign. Over two weeks, employees collectively raised over $30,000 to support Prisma Health-Upstate Foundation initiatives. This remarkable participation reflects the dedication of Prisma Health’s team members to improving the lives of patients, families, and the broader community.
As we reflect on the milestones of 2024, the Prisma Health-Upstate Foundation is inspired by the generosity of each of you – our most generous donors – along with our community partners, our dedicated healthcare professionals, and the leadership of our 16-member board of directors. These ambassadors have been instrumental in driving our mission forward, fostering innovation, and strengthening our connections across the Upstate.
Together, we’ve built on a strong foundation for future growth and impact. With the continued guidance of our board and the support of our community, we move closer to fulfilling our shared mission: creating healthier futures and brighter tomorrows for all.
Thank you for being part of this journey. We look forward to building on this year’s successes and achieving even greater milestones in the years to come.
