Prisma Health Upstate Foundation recognizes community philanthropists
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Prisma Health Upstate Foundation recently presented their two most prestigious awards, the William King (B.K.) Bryan Spirit of Philanthropy and Be the Difference Awards, to three community philanthropists.
B.K. Bryan Spirit of Philanthropy Award
The B.K. Bryan Spirit of Philanthropy Award was established by the Upstate Foundation in 2010 for the late community philanthropist William King (B.K.) Bryan to honor his memory and kind generosity. The award acknowledges individuals or families whose philanthropic hearts shine in all they do.
2022 award recipient
Lisa and Roger Stevens are the 2022 recipients of the B.K. Bryan Spirit of Philanthropy Award and were selected because of their continued generosity and partnership over the years. Lisa is currently the co-chair of the USC School of Medicine Dean’s Council and Chair of the MedEx Advancement Council. She previously served on the Greenville Health System Board of Trustees and the Greenville Health Authority Board. Lisa and Roger are advocates for supporting the careers of generations of future healthcare professionals through their support of MedEx Academy and the USCSOM Greenville.

Be the Difference Award
The Prisma Health Upstate Foundation established the Be the Difference award in 2021 to honor a Prisma Health clinician and leader who understands the impact of engagement and transformational giving.
2022 award recipients
Robin Newton LaCroix, MD and
Taylor D. Stathes, MS, CTRS, CCLS
The Prisma Health Upstate Foundation awarded two Be the Difference awards to clinical partner Taylor Stathes and Robin LaCroix, MD.
Taylor Stathes, Manager of Prisma Health Children’s Hospital Child Life and Special Programs, serves as an advocate for the patients and families who receive care at the Children’s Hospital. In her position, Taylor works diligently to ensure that child friendly spaces in our hospital exist and each day she is in the Children’s Hospital she observes the power of philanthropy at work. All the programs she manages are supported solely through philanthropic funding and tangible donations. Taylor is a shining light in the community who is focused on strengthening relationships with both community partners and families to grow support and the experience for our youngest patients.
Robin LaCroix is also a 2022 Be the Difference Award recipient. Dr. LaCroix is a constant partner to the Upstate Foundation, and she is an advocate for children, and families she serves daily. As Medical Director of the Prisma Health Children’s Hospital and with an expertise in infectious disease, she provided leadership, guidance, and counsel through the COVID-19 pandemic. She gives countless hours to philanthropy, leading volunteer groups and councils, attending events and check presentations, giving tours, meeting one on one with community leaders, helping, and ensuring that philanthropic funds designated for children programs are well managed and leveraged. She always assists with patient navigation and is a true example of compassionate and insightful care.
